Host Course

The Nicklaus designed Pronghorn Golf Club opened in 2004 as a private club but became a public course in 2011. The 7400 Par 72 layout has been ranked in most of the United States “Top 100” public course rankings. Golf Digest, which ranked it 42nd this year, called the back nine “maybe the most delightful Jack has ever designed.”

Players in the field: 44

Spots available: Probably 2

Most Recognizable names

Jason Allred- The veteran of 152 Korn Ferry events and 70 PGA Tour retired from full-time playing in 2016. Since then he worked at Christian Golf Fellowship and earlier this year was hired as an assistant coach for the Pepperdine University Golf Team, his alma mater. His best finish on the PGA Tour was a third place finish at the Genesis after Monday qualifying.

Trevor Simsby- The University of Washington alum has played on the Asian Tour for the last few years and has one win. The win came at the Malaysian Open, the last event on the Asian Tour before Covid shut down play for over a year. The win also earned him a start in a WGC event the following year, where he finished T37. Simsby has struggled a bit this year with just one top-10 finish.

Colin Featherstone- The San Diego native has played 65 career KFT events and last season, finished 91st in points after returning to playing full-time after a few years of working for Titleist. This season, he has played four KFT events but has yet to make a cut.

Storylines

Science Teacher- Colin Prater is a Science Teacher and golf coach in Colorado Springs and he is also a damn good golfer. In between teaching and coaching, he has somehow found the time to dominate Colorado Amateur golf. In 2021, he was named Person of the Year by the Colorado Golf Association after he won the Colorado Amateur, Colorado Match Play, and took home low amateur at the Colorado Open. This year, he made match play in the U.S. Amateur.

College Kids- There are a ton of talented college players in the field from major programs including Oregon State, University of Minnesota, the University of Oregon, and many more.
