Back in the day, the Honda (now Cognizant) Monday Q, was the Super Bowl of Mondays. That changed when the Honda was moved in the schedule and many of the top players started skipping the event. However, it still boasts a strong field, I will break it down below.
Austin Lemieux- Son of NHL Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux, Austin has concentrated on a golf career after playing hockey for Arizona State University. Although he has kept his amateur status, Lemieux plays often on the Minor League Tour where he has numerous top-five finishes. He shot 66 (of course) to get through the difficult pre-qualifier.
Julius Boros III- The grandson of 18-time PGA Tour winner, the 24-year-old doesn’t have much experience playing professionally, so it is a great accomplishment to get through the pre-qualifier.
Nicholas Thompson- The brother of Lexi, Thompson has started to play more again after giving up caddying for Lexi full-time. Thompson has 229 career PGA Tour starts along with 189 Korn Ferry starts, including a win.
Russell Knox
Ryan Armour
Adam Long
Seung Yol Noh
Robert Streb
Jim Herman
Robert Garrigus
DA Points
William “Dirt” McGirt
Eric Axley
DJ Trahan
Brian Davis
Scott Jamieson
Brice Garnett
Austin Cook
Gene Sauers- The 61-year-old and three-time PGA Tour winner has entered the Monday Q and will look to become the oldest player to ever Monday Q into a PGA Tour event.
Beau Titsworth- Titsworth played at the University of Oklahoma and has won some mini-tour events around the country. His brother Parker was the starting center for the University of Ohio in 2022.
Morgan Hoffmann- Hoffmann, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in 2017, has been grinding at Monday Q’s this season. He is also a partner in the clothing line Greyson.
Michael Gligic- The former PGA Tour member and KFT winner has conditional KFT status but looks to grab a start on Tour.
Jeff Overton- The former Ryder Cupper nearly died after developing an infection in his spine after back surgery. Overton was in the hospital for nearly a month and was out of golf for years before returning last season.
David Hearn- The veteran of 330 PGA Tour starts missed the cut in all seven of his starts last season, but looks to get into his first event of 2024
Harry Higgs- Currently sitting 35th in KFT points after starting the season with two top 16 finishes, Higgs is skipping the event in Argentina and looking to get a shot at his first PGA Tour start of 2024
Fran Quinn- The long-time grinder has played a few qualifiers this year, at 58-years-old, he isn’t even the oldest player in the field.
As the theme goes so far this year, the KFT and Q-school grads are getting squeezed out of fields. Among the players in this Monday Q that have pga tour cards for this season include:
Hayden Springer
Harrison Endycott
Ryan McCormick
Erik Barnes (medical)
Rafael Campos
Parker Coody
Tom Whitney
Josh Teater
Blaine Hale
