The Final Qualifying site in Canada is another stacked field as players going to the Canadian Open hit the qualifier on their way. The field includes seven players in the top-100 of OWGR, along with two of the top amateurs in the world.
Course:
Lambton Golf and Country Club was founded in 1902 and was home to the first Olympic Golf Champion, George St Lyon, who won Gold at the 1904 Olympics. Rees Jones redesigned the layout in 2010 and the club has hosted the Canadian Amateur and the Ontario Mid-Am. The 7100 yard layout is played as a par 72 for members, but will be played as a par 70 on Monday.
Highest Ranked Player in the field:
Ryan Fox: The New Zealander is currently ranked 78th in OWGR after a win in Myrtle Beach earlier this month. He followed that up with a solid showing at the PGA, finishing 28th. Last season, Fox made a lot of cuts (17 of 24) but struggled to put four rounds together and barely held on to his full card, finishing 118th in points at the conclusion of the fall series.
Other Big Names in the field:
David Ford: The UNC star just finished first in the PGA Tour U standings and earned a full card through 2026. As a Tar Heel, he set numerous records including career scoring average (70.13), rounds in the 60’s (66), and career under par score (-162). He will now look to earn a spot in his first major.
Luke Clanton: Another player who earned his PGA Tour card through PGA Tour U. The 21-year-old already has four top-10s in just 13 Tour events, including two runner-up finishes, all as an amateur. He also got through final U.S. Open qualifying last year and went on to finish T41 at Pinehurst. An exceptional talent who is one of the favorites at this site.
Danny Willett: The former Masters Champion fell all the way to 624th in OWGR to begin 2025. A top-10 at Farmers and making five of nine cuts has helped the Englishman climb back to 346th. At just 37-years-old, you would think there is still some gas left in the tank.
Others in the top 100: Niklas Norgaard, Ryo Hisatsune, Thorbjorn Olesen, Keith Mitchell, Max McGreevy.
Stories Might Not have Heard about:
Jimmy Jones: The longtime grinder and owner of some of golf’s best lettuce in golf, has been playing well of late. Jones shot 62 at the Ocean Course on Kiawah and played well in some Florida mini tour events. He’s the son of LPGA legend Dawn Coe-Jones.
Gordon Sargent: Another former top-ranked amateur, but currently headed in a different direction of Clanton and Ford. Sargent also earned his PGA Tour card through PGA Tour U, but elected to stay another year at Vanderbilt. (He still is eligible for his Tour card, it only begins once he turns pro). But Sargent struggled at Vanderbilt this season, where his best finish was a 40th place and he failed to crack the starting lineup towards the end of the year. Obviously, he is immensely talented and hopefully begins to turn things around.
