This week is the final regular-season event on the Korn Ferry Tour. The field is set strictly by the points list, there is no Monday qualifier and there are no sponsor exemptions.
There is a lot at stake over the next five events, so I wanted to break down the important numbers and how the KFT Finals work. The first Finals event begins September 10 at the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation in Franklin, Tenn.
Important numbers to know
20 — The number of PGA Tour cards available. The top 20 on the final Korn Ferry Tour points list earn PGA Tour cards for 2027.
60 — Players who finish inside the top 60 retain full KFT status for the 2027 season. They also receive an exemption into the final stage of Q-School, where five additional PGA Tour cards will be available. This number is down from 75 in previous years.
75 — Players who finish 61st through 75th receive an exemption into the second stage of Q-School.
100 — Players who finish inside the top 100 retain conditional KFT status for the 2027 season.
How the Finals work
After this week, there are four Finals events with increased points. A win is worth 600 points compared to 500 during the regular season.
The points do not reset. Everything players have earned during the regular season carries into the Finals, and the top 20 on the final points list receive PGA Tour cards.
The field gets smaller each week:
First playoff event: 156 players
Second playoff event: 132 players
Third playoff event: 100 players
Tour Championship: 60 players
There are also no alternates during the Finals.
That means if a player finishes 157th in points, he will not get into the first playoff event even if someone withdraws. The same applies to No. 133 for the second event, No. 101 for the third event and No. 61 for the Tour Championship.
So while the top 20 receive most of the attention because PGA Tour cards are on the line, there are important cutoffs all the way down the points list over the next five weeks.
